This week at Brie & Bleu
The featured cheese of the week is ..... a Dutch Goat Gouda usually at $16/lb is $14/lb this week at Brei & Bleu. Dutch goat cheese is a rarity, except, that is, for Goat Gouda. A few entrepreneurial Dutchmen discovered that Gouda, the cheese people most commonly associate with Holland, could be made from goat's milk as well. Goat Gouda has proven wildly popular in Europe and is starting to turn heads here in the States too. This satiny, bright white cheese is now manufactured by several Dutch cheese producers. If you like goat cheese, we strongly suggest you try this tangy, satiny, mouth-watering gem made from pasteurized goat's milk. A mild, and somewhat nutty flavor with a soft and slightly creamy texture is excellent for fondues and may be served with your favorite red wine such as Silverstone Cabernet purchased next door at Thames River Wine and Spirits for an additional 10% off the cheese.

Beer Me Daddy! - Beer Tasting This Thursday July 6 - 5-8 p.m. - No Charge
If you have not met Kristin Weber - please join us - she is doing a great job overseeing the weekly beer tasting.
She is also about to launch a series of Beer Dinner's to really kick the whole thing up to a new level.
This is what she is serving on Thursday.

LaCrosse City Brewery Pale Ale- $8/6pk
A nice hoppy flavor, carmel and other toasted hop flavor.

Rogue Morimoto Soba Signiture Ale- $5/650mL
Fruity ale and nutty malt flavors but very very different. Aftertaste is clean dry and refreshing.
This is one very balanced and light refresher.

Pinkus Organic Munster Alt- $3/500mL
I like this compared to the other Alt beers I've had, its not as intensely malty, but very yeasty. This beer has bread flavors all over, and quite drinkable.

Sam Smith Taddy Porter-$4/550mL
For those fans of dark beer, here it is. The flavor is chocolate and toffee but over toweringly so. Yeah, dark beer.

WINE TASTING - Friday July 7 - 6-9 p.m. - No charge.

Itsas Mendi Txakolina - ( pronounced Shock-o-lee-na ) - $20.
Lots of you discovered this great wine from Spain last summer - it's crisp, light, and found on just about every restaurant table in the Basque region of Spain. It is perfect with almost any fish or shellfish dish - please give it a try and find out why people were buying it buy the case and keeping it on the table all summer long.

Encore Medley - Monterey California - $16
This is a rich, full-flavored blend that shows a bright fruit driven style. there are aromas of smoke, chocolate, blackberries and a hint of cassis. It has a beautiful long finish and compliments medium to full bodied foods.

Domaine Mas Saint Joseph - $14
This vineyard area is one of the most ancient in France, dating back to the first Greek colonies in southern France.
Mas Saint-Joseph is a one-plot, 18 hectares estate, located on the Meynes-Redessan plateau on the Northern edge of the AOC. The varietals are Syrah, Grenache and Carignan, with more Syrah than is common locally, and the vines are on average 30 years old. This is a fabulous multi-layered wine that will stimulate and satisfy - please try it.

Havens - Bourriquot - $38
Bourriquot ( boe-ree-ko ) is finely-textured and elegant. It has fine chocolate and fine cedar of a cigar box, dusty roses, dried cherries. And the finish is outstanding here, lingering with great inner-mouth flavor. There is a lot of wine in this bottle for the price.

Thanks very much for your support - we appreciate it.
The summer is in full swing - the dinners and events are filling up quickly - so please reserve early.

Please join us. It's fun, informal and a great way to start your weekend.
